Turkevi Centre, New YORK

Loophouse rugs and carpets can also be fitted as a wall to wall offering. The Turkevi Centre, a 563ft tall mixed use skyscraper at 821 First Avenue in Midtown East, New York approved a large fitted rug for their prayer hall and adjoining rooms.

The main area rug featured a custom ALCHEMY gradation rug in blue tones surrounded by the darkest blue within the rug for all other areas. Detailed architectural drawings provided the dimensions and location of the ALCHEMY design. The design was tufted with precise placement of the ALCHEMY area positioned on an angle. The challenge when tufting this large piece came with the logistics of moving it around on the tufting frame, as seen and detailed in the images. All Loophouse rugs work within a colour and size tolerance to hit the required mark. A latex and cotton scrim backing is applied to hold the yarns in place with a final quality control check to ensure exact and accurate sizes are maintained.
